Mrs Louisa Orr Pioneer German Shepherd Breeder, N.Ireland
In the 1950's Alison's Great-Aunt discovered the German Shepherd dog. She bought her first dog from the UK, where it had been a German import. She called the dog 'Gail' and she would become the foundation stone of her kennels at Ivydene in Portavogie, Co.Down, N.Ireland.
Gail won many challenge certificates all over Ireland and became a Grand Champion. Mrs Orr bred from her and out of one of her litters she kept another female who was also very successful in the showring. The third dog that she kept out of her litters she called 'Gail' after her grandmother. She was very successful in both the show ring and in obedience.
'Aunt Louie' became the inspiration of Alison's dream to one day be able to breed purebred German Shepherds herself. The dream is now a reality, however, it is just part of a larger vision...more to come.
